2006 Citation Oregon Pinot Noir
“This is our investment in the test of time which is the ultimate test for a wine region and a wine producer…created without compromise, proof positive that Oregon is the optimum region in the New World to produce a classically Burgundian-style Pinot Noir.” – Howard Rossbach
The finest Pinot Noir we offer, Citation Oregon is created by looking beyond limiting local geographic boundaries to attain the highest quality possible. After scouring the farthest reaches of the state and our own vineyards and valley, the most promising vineyard blocks were selected and fermented in small vessels. Punched-down twice a day by hand, the wine was later gently pressed to French oak barrels to age for the next fifteen months. Careful selection of the best barrels produced a small quantity of deep, luscious Pinot Noir.
Bottle-aged 9 years before release, the 2006 Citation Pinot Noir has developed the complexity only achieved with great patience and has proven to be a truly world-class wine. Garnet in color, its youthful aromas of black cherry and cinnamon meld with those developed in the bottle, sliced mushroom and forest floor. Mouth-filling flavors of cherry pie and vanilla sit atop the wine’s still-maturing silty tannins as faint echoes of oak linger on the finish.
